New Exemplar Engineering Building Montsaye Academy, Rothwell
We were appointed to assist with securing specialist funding for a new exemplar Engineering Building. The concept was to utilise highly sustainable energy efficient technology and design to inform students using the building. This bid was only one of 15 projects in the country to be successful. The building has large areas of natural light with external louvres and large overhangs to control glare, an exposed steel structure and a large thermal mass. It utilises ground cooling systems connected to chiller beams in parallel with ground source heat pumps, bio mass rape seed oil boiler, solar panels, rainwater harvesting and other sustainable initiatives all monitored by a BMS to achieve a BREEAM very good rating.
